Early morning we set of from Viana do Castelo with a plan to reach Cascais and this time we did exactly what we planned.
Viana do Castelo is a known place for kiters and as we were sailing out of the harbour we met a swarm of kites in high speed surrounding the boat.
The weather was beautiful and we got fair winds for the first two hours. After that we met the heavy fog from the night before and once more we had to sit tight scouting for fishing equipment. What surprised us most is how depressing it is to be surrounded by thick fog not being able to se more than a few meters in front of the boat and how hard it was on the moral in the boat.
Finally we passed the fog and the wind came back. Happy times!
We knew starting the day that this would be a long day and it was, as usual it got dark before we reached Cascais. The last hour we took down the sails motoring because of strong winds throwing from all sides . It was quite rough. Calling the harbourmaster on VHF before entering he told us that the marina was full. After sailing for a very long time being dead tired we told him to find a spot anyway and he did. Why he told us it was full at first is beyond me. He was very nice and helped us into our spot. Needless to say we barely got our clothes off before we fell asleep.
